Azabu-Juban and Ebisu are enthusiastic about traditional Christmas sweets made by a long-established gelateria in Milan

Nov 1, 2013

Gelateria Marghera, a long-established gelato specialty shop from Milan that opened its first overseas location in Azabu-Juban, Tokyo, in July of this year, will open its second location at Atre Ebisu on November 22nd.

Franco Pravettoni's traditional gelato, made using fresh seasonal ingredients, has been loved by Milanese people since its founding in 1979. On weekends, the lines in front of the store often form "Marghera traffic jams." Gelateria Marghera is a pioneer in the gelato world, having pioneered the bar-style of standing and enjoying gelato, which previously was typically enjoyed seated at a table.

Starting with the Atre Ebisu store's opening, the shop will offer panettone, a traditional Italian Christmas treat, as well as ice cream cakes and semifreddo cakes made with freshly baked gelato.

Panettone originated in Milan and is now enjoyed throughout Italy as a Christmas treat. Raisins and dried fruits, which are also found in panettone dough, are topped on gelato to create a sophisticated Christmas-only iced panettone, typical of Marghera. The decorations, which are reminiscent of Christmas ornaments, will also get you in the Christmas spirit.

The shop also offers cakes that are perfect for Christmas and other occasions, such as ice cream cakes made with gelato such as pistachio, chocolate, and strawberry, and fresh fruit, as well as semifreddo cake, which allows you to enjoy the coldness of gelato and the texture of cake. In addition to the 11 holiday season flavors, two Christmas-only flavors are planned for the gelato showcase.
