Graff, the King of Diamonds, holds 1st anniversary event at Isetan Shinjuku

Nov 5, 2013

Graff, a high-end jeweler with its flagship store on London's Bond Street, will be holding an event to celebrate the first anniversary of its Isetan Shinjuku store opening from November 6th to 12th at The Stage on the first floor of the store.

The event will feature Graff's signature yellow diamonds. A special exhibit of one of the world's largest yellow diamonds (107.46 carats) will be brought to the store for this special occasion. To commemorate the first anniversary, a 0.5 carat solitaire ring and pendant will be available for pre-sale. Graff will also feature a selection of carefully selected diamonds from around the world, including the "Icon Collection," featuring a fan-shaped motif that has been a staple of Graff's since its early days.

Graff was founded in 1960 by current Chairman Laurence Graff. Born and raised in a poor family of Russian immigrants, Lawrence began working as an apprentice in London's diamond district at the age of 15 and went independent at the young age of 18. He opened his first store in 1962. The company has released numerous D-color, flawless (completely colorless and flawless, the highest quality) diamonds in the world at the time, including "The Paragon," the world's largest heptagonal cut (seven-sided), "Le Grande Coeur d'Afrique," the world's largest heart-shaped diamond, mined from the same rough stone and sold to the Brunei Royal Family, the world's largest octagonal step-cut diamond, and "The Graff Constellation," the world's largest round-cut diamond. As a high jeweler specializing in only large, exquisite diamonds, the company attracted the attention of the wealthy from around the world, establishing itself as the "King of Diamonds." In 1993, the company moved its flagship store to New Bond Street. In 2000, the company began expanding overseas, and currently operates more than 36 stores worldwide. In 2013, marking the 60th anniversary of his career, Lawrence was awarded the Order of the British Empire and the title of Officer. To commemorate this, Graph Publishing released "Hair & Jewels," which used historic diamonds worth a total of 50 billion yen, shocking the world.

In Japan, the brand's first salon, which became its Asian flagship store, opened in 2007 at The Peninsula Tokyo, a hotel in Hibiya, Tokyo.
