On October 17, Salvatore Ferragamo held a gala party in Beverly Hills to celebrate the opening of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Organizers included philanthropist Wallis Annenberg, Brad Pitt, and Robert Redford, and attendees included Jodie Foster, Kevin Spacey, and Japanese model Tao, who made her acting debut in the film "The Wolverine." Salvatore Ferragamo President Ferruccio Ferragamo said, "This year marks the 100th anniversary of my father, Salvatore Ferragamo, coming to America with the dream of creating the world's most beautiful shoes. He settled in Hollywood and opened his first store." A fashion show featuring the 14 Spring/Summer collection and evening dresses specially designed for the occasion was also held, and a Ferragamo pop-up store also opened within the center.
The center will provide a place to enjoy the arts through theater, dance, music, and more, centered around the Beverly Hills Post Office, an Italian-style building built in 1933, and the newly constructed Goldsmith Theater, which can accommodate 500 people.
