Jun Okamoto's first street-level store opens in Daikanyama, designed by Tanijiri Makoto and Hasegawa Naoko

Nov 13, 2013

JUN OKAMOTO has opened its first street-level store, JUN OKAMOTO DAIKANYAMA (12-3 Daikanyama-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), in Daikanyama, Tokyo. The store occupies one floor above ground, measuring approximately 43 square meters. The shop design was created by the design duo of architect Makoto Tanijiri and planner Naoko Hasegawa, and is based on the concept of a "kitchen-like space." In addition to JUN OKAMOTO's women's and men's collection lines, the store also carries "wallflower by jun okamoto," a semi-custom line available only at the Kumamoto store. Also on sale are candles created in collaboration with LAND by LAND, cushions made with Saori weaving, and Moleskine, iPad cases, and bags selected by designer Jun Okamoto. Okamoto says, "I wanted people to see what I've done so far (since starting the brand). I also want to stand in the store from time to time and talk to customers to convey the feelings I put into the clothes. I want to respond to customer requests, such as changing the sleeve length, not just for semi-custom orders but also for the collection line, and I want to solidify this shop and hold a show next autumn/winter."
