Fashion designer Rick Owens was born on November 18, 1962, in the United States. After studying art and pattern design, he founded his own brand in 1994 and has been active in Los Angeles ever since. He participated in New York Fashion Week in the 2002 Autumn/Winter season and won the CFDA's Perry Ellis Award for Best New Designer that same year. Since the 2004 Autumn/Winter season, he has presented his collections in Paris. In 2005, he launched the jersey line "RICKOWENSLILIES" and the furniture line "FUNITURE." In 2006, he presented his first men's show as a guest designer at Pitti Uomo. In addition to his own brand, he served as creative director of the French fur brand Revillon from 2003 to 2006. In June of this year, he announced the "adidas by Rick Owens" shoe line, a collaboration with adidas, at the 2014 Spring/Summer men's collection held in Paris. The collection is scheduled to be released in December of this year.

Rick Owens' official Facebook page also features a comment that reads, "I want to make clothes the way Lou Reed makes music." Lou Reed was an American rock musician who passed away on October 27th last month.
