The second large-format photo book edited by Terry Jones features Rick Owens and Raf Simons

May 14, 2013

Art book publisher TASCHEN is releasing the second of its large-format monographs focusing on a single designer: "Rick Owens" and "Raf Simons." The monographs are edited by Terry Jones, creative director of London-based fashion magazine i-D. Drawing on archives developed through the magazine's long association with i-D, "Rick Owens" traces Owens' career, from the brand's launch in Los Angeles to opening an atelier in Paris and stores in New York, London, Tokyo, and elsewhere. Photographers Corinne Day, Solve Sundsbo, and Hans Feurer created the images. "Raf Simons" traces Simons's career, from the pages of the February 2001 issue of i-D, where he served as guest editor, to his time as creative director of his own men's line, Jill Sander, and his current role at Dior. Photographers Willy Vanderperre, Solva Sundsbo, and Alasdair McLellan captured the images. Each volume costs ¥6,300 and is available in four languages: English, German, French, and Spanish. Available from mid-May at major bookstores that carry foreign books. Advance sales will begin on the 14th at Re-Style on the 3rd floor of Isetan Shinjuku. The first three volumes in the series, featuring Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, and Vivienne Westwood, were published in December of last year.
