To celebrate the brand's 80th anniversary, LACOSTE will release a limited edition polo shirt designed by art director Peter Saville at the end of November.
The base model is the brand's signature polo shirt, "L.12.12." The "crazy crocodile" logo, available in eight variations, is so simple and abstract that it is virtually unrecognizable as a crocodile. 800 men's and 800 women's versions are available, available in white only. Priced at 24,150 yen.
There will also be a limited edition of 80 men's and 80 women's versions. Each version features a different logo, signed by Saville, and is numbered. This edition is not available in Japan.
British-born Saville co-founded Factory Records from 1979 to 1993, creating many famous record covers for artists such as Joy Division and New Order. He has since collaborated with Yohji Yamamoto, Martine Sitbon, Jil Sander, Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen, and Givenchy. In 2004, he was appointed creative director of Manchester City, England, and in 2010, he designed the new England national football team uniform. He also designed Lacoste's 80th anniversary logo.
