On November 18th, Italian brand FURLA held a party and presentation for its 2014 Spring/Summer collection at the Tokyo National Museum's Horyuji Treasure Gallery in Ueno, Tokyo. American socialite Olivia Palermo visited Japan as a special guest, carrying her new "Polaris" bag. As symbolized by its light blue color, the 2014 Spring/Summer collection was themed "UP IN THE SKY," and was expressed using natural colors inspired by the light and sense of freedom emitted by nature. The iconic PVC "CANDY" bag was redesigned with leather accents. Colorful PVC clutch bags and shoes, two-tone leather bags, eyewear, and hats were also included. Furla, which founded the Furla Foundation in 1990 to research, plan, and support creators in the fields of art and fashion, chose the theme of this year's party as "The Fusion of Fashion and Art." Along with the new collection, the event featured a film by Italian filmmaker Davide Bedoni, supported by the Foundation, and collages by Chinese photographer Chen Man. Furla owner Giovanna Furlanetto, who visited from Italy, expressed her gratitude to Japan, saying, "It's been more than 20 years since Furla arrived in Japan, and we now have 69 stores nationwide. It has become Furla's number one market in the world, surpassing Italy." She also introduced Yuko Hasegawa, chief curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, a close friend of Furla's. Hasegawa also spoke about Furla's relationship with art. The venue was decorated with floral decorations by flower artist Nicolai Bergmann, who also gave a flower art demonstration.
