American singer-songwriter Jesse Harris held a secret live concert in Tokyo on the 14th. The concert will be broadcast this Thursday (the 21st) on Inter FM's "Barakan Morning" (7:00 AM - 10:00 AM). Since the show began airing "Paul Stuart 75 glorious years of Music" in September, Jesse Harris visited Japan exclusively for a live performance at the "Paul Stuart 75th Anniversary Party" held at Tsunamachi Mitsui Club on the same day. He also had a talk with the show's DJ, Peter Barakan. The concert began with "Black Orchid," a track from his first solo album, "Born Away," released in May (first in Japan, then in the US in June). He performed jazz standards like "Body and Soul" and "My Buddy" on just acoustic guitar, as well as John Zorn's "Towards Kafiristan." He also performed a Norah Jones song that epitomized his career. Jesse Harris is a Japanophile who writes for Japanese artists like Ken Hirai and Bird, and often performs small-scale shows in Japan. His fans were delighted with this solo performance, which showcased his songwriting roots. Barakan, who bought a new suit from Paul Stuart for the occasion, wore a tie for the first time in 30 years. He appeared a little shy during his conversation with Harris.
