The unwavering bond between TISSOT and motorsports: New colors for the revived Sport Chrono model

Oct 24, 2020

The Tissot Heritage 1973, released in the fall of 2019 as a legendary model symbolizing the partnership between Tissot and the Kessel Classic Racing Team, representing Switzerland, was limited to 1,973 pieces worldwide. In 2020, this model, which has been well received worldwide, will be added to the lineup in new black and blue colors.

Tissot's long-standing relationship with motorsport dates back to 1958. Tissot has created numerous masterpieces, drawing diverse inspiration from the world of motor racing, a world that shares a common attitude of "defying the times" through passion, precision, and technological innovation. For example, the unique perforated leather strap featured on the Tissot Heritage 1973 was developed by Tissot in the 1960s, inspired by racing car steering wheels.

In the 1970s, Tissot partnered with Alpine, a rally car manufacturer, to sponsor the brand, and competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche. In 1976, Tissot entered Formula 1 with the young Swiss driver Loris Kessel, and a racing car bearing the Tissot logo raced in the world's most prestigious races, forging a historic bond. In 2018, Tissot revived this strong partnership with the Kessel family as an official partner of Kessel Classic, which owns Formula 1 cars, adding a new chapter to the history of motor racing.

The Tissot Heritage 1973 is a sports chronograph model that inherits the spirit of the racing watch from 1973, featuring the three-dimensional, soft lines of its oval cushion-shaped case and colorful details. The three-dimensional curves of the case exude a sporty yet classic style, and the watch is meticulously finished with a combination of hairline and mirror finishes, elevating its refined sophistication. The classic box-shaped crystal is made of sapphire crystal. The bar hands and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova(R), which glows green in the dark, ensuring visibility.
