"FLYING BODIES," a non-fiction film depicting the Aomori University Men's Rhythmic Gymnastics Club's special performance, planned and costume designed by designer Issei Miyake and directed by Daniel Ezralow, held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium Second Gymnasium in July, and the process leading up to its completion, has been completed. The film will premiere at Theater Shinjuku on November 30th, followed by general screenings at Theater Umeda and other venues. Director Hiroyuki Nakano follows the Aomori University Rhythmic Gymnastics Club's daily challenges over the course of three months, from the preparation stage to the actual performance. The first half begins with a scene of Ezralow's first meeting with the team when they visit Aomori in April. The film then goes on to show the hard work and dedication required to realize Ezralow's vision, including dormitory life, interviews with athletes and coaches, and costume fittings by Issei Miyake. The film offers a behind-the-scenes look at the team's thoughts and training methods as they strive to create a successful show of unprecedented scale and content. At the premiere screening, director Nakano said, "This film documents the three months in which a world-class director gave impossible tasks to the prestigious Aomori University Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, a team that has won the All Japan Championships multiple times, while piecing together a beautiful routine. I hope you will come and see these pure-hearted 'Apple Boys' soaring through the sky." Regarding the future of the film, he revealed, "We also have a desire to make men's rhythmic gymnastics an official Olympic sport, so we are also working towards presenting the film overseas, including participating in film festivals."
