German artist Friedrich Kunath's solo exhibition opens in London

Nov 28, 2013

London's White Cube gallery is currently hosting "I'm Running Out Of World," a solo exhibition by German artist Friedrich Kunath. Kunath held his first solo exhibition in Asia at Tokyo's Kaikai Kiki gallery in 2010, and his work has garnered attention in Japan as well. This marks the LA-based artist's second solo exhibition with the gallery, showcasing 24 paintings and sculptures. Regarding the title "I'm Running Out Of World," the exhibition's curatorial team explains, "Based on Kunath's numerous statements, we can infer that he is strongly attracted not only to fantasy worlds, but also to the intersections and junctions between reality and fantasy. For example, the ambiguous moment between dreaming and fully awake, the world that lies on the border between reality and daydreaming. The title perhaps reflects the artist's state of mind as he exists in these ambiguous worlds." White Cube is one of London's most influential galleries. The gallery carries works by internationally acclaimed artists such as Andreas Gursky, Damien Hirst, and Yoko Ono, as well as up-and-coming artists. In addition to London, the gallery also has spaces in Hong Kong and Sao Paulo.
