The London Design Festival, held during last month's London Fashion Week, teamed up with 19 Greek Street, a collective of interior and product designers led by Marc Peridis, and the acclaimed gallery-restaurant Sketch to present the exhibition "Flung: The Up Side of Down." The exhibition, titled "Flung," featured five objects, each expressing beauty born from the destruction and decay of everyday life, displayed as if thrown into the venue. The opening event, held on the evening of September 16th, attracted many fashion, architecture, and media professionals from around the world. A talk was held featuring Peridis, the event's founder and known for his retail designs for LVMH Group brands, alongside five participating designers and curators. The theme of the talk was "Destruction and Creation: Creating Beauty from the Destruction and Chaos of Everyday Life." Each participant discussed their sources of inspiration and how they create them. Peridis commented, "Beauty is not something that can be created, but something that is always present in everyday life and should be discovered." All five artists also shared the idea that "new beauty is born when something that currently exists is destroyed, or when it is established in a way that differs from its original meaning."
Sketch always curates and exhibits the latest contemporary art. Guests can enjoy an artistic experience accompanied by cuisine by three-star chef Pierre Gagnaire.
