Keisuke Yoshida's SS17 women's collection was unveiled on October 22nd at FASHION PORT NEW EAST during Amazon Fashion Week TOKYO. The glam rock music and the hum of the Yamanote Line echoed through Miyashita Park, symbolizing the streets of Tokyo. Marking its fourth season, this collection embraced the theme of "Reborn," showcasing a new approach that revamped the brand's image. This season, featuring only women's wear, the collection featured striking looks incorporating Keisuke Yoshida's signature "uniform" aesthetic, while also incorporating vibrant, feminine colors like red and beige. Oversized shirts, wide-leg pants with knee-length slits, and a generous array of logo buttons were sprinkled throughout, accentuating the silhouette's curves with frills, pleats, and ruffles. While the silhouette has a unisex feel, the design itself is a look suitable for modern women who enjoy liberal fashion. His commitment to pursuing real clothing is unwavering, with pullovers paired with white tights and long dresses with bold ruffles paired with white sneakers and caps.
The graphic prints that add impact to the street-chic jersey style are the work of young photographer Kusano Yoko. According to designer Yoshida, this is a new venture, incorporating collaborations with female creators. The jewelry is by Whitelilly, created by Karizawa Sarika, and the embroidered and printed illustrations are a collaboration with Kurachina Natsuki.
We look forward to seeing his future works, which embody Tokyo pop culture in a realistic way without relying on gimmicks.
