Demna Gvasalia's Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2017 Resort Collection was unveiled.

The collection reflects the attitude and silhouettes established in the Fall/Winter 2016-17 collection, which paid homage to founder Cristóbal Balenciaga, while combining details evocative of the house's couture heritage. The collection's core principles include ease, utility, and fluidity, and includes pieces such as a kaftan-style dress resembling an oversized, stretched cotton poplin men's shirt, and a coat cut simply like a bathrobe, pushing the concept of "ease" to its limits.

The collection also features stripes as its sole graphic motif. Unconstrained by the conventions of a couture house, the collection's materials included cotton poplin, twill, technical jersey, and terry cloth. Accessories include the "Bazaar" bag, based on a practical shopping tote bag, a clutch bag that recreates the latticework design of the seats in traditional Parisian cafes, and jewelry made from enlarged ball chains.
