Levi's celebrates the 50th anniversary of its "Type III Trucker Jacket" with a pop-up at The Parking Ginza! Featuring reproductions and limited-edition customizations

Nov 17, 2016

Levi's will open a pop-up store featuring the trucker jacket at THE PARK・ING GINZA from December 1st to 11th ahead of the 50th anniversary of the "TYPE III Trucker Jacket."

Levi's was the first to create the trucker jacket (also known as a denim jacket). They are classified into "TYPE I," "TYPE II," and "TYPE III" in order of age, with the "TYPE III" being the most popular. The "TYPE III," which is the prototype of the modern denim jacket, boasts a streamlined body compared to the I and II models thanks to its three-dimensional cut. Its use of pre-shrunk denim rapidly expanded its popularity as a fashion item, not only among its previous main customer base of workers but also among young people.

The pop-up store will feature the "TYPE III" as a focal point, as well as other items such as the Sherpa Trucker, featuring sherpa fabric on the body, collar, and inside of the sleeves, and the Down Trucker, made with Thermore® insulation. Levi's (R) Vintage Clothing will also be releasing trucker jackets "TYPE I" to "TYPE III" that are faithful reproductions of the original designs, as well as a reproduction model of the Triple Pleat Blouse, the world's oldest denim jacket with pleats in the front. Additionally, there will be an advance release of a trucker jacket commemorating the 50th anniversary, and a customization menu exclusive to the shop.
