TOKYO COFFEE FESTIVAL 2016 winter, one of Japan's largest coffee events, will be held on November 26th and 27th in the courtyard of the United Nations University in Aoyama, Tokyo.
The event will feature approximately 60 roasters and coffee shops from Japan and abroad, as well as sweets that go well with coffee and a bookstore. Many international coffee roasters will also be visiting Japan, including Hong Kong's The Cupping Room, owned by the barista who was ranked second in the world in 2014. The venue will also feature a limited-time store called General Brews Store, which is themed around "enjoying coffee even more." The event will be themed around brewing, and will propose ways to use coffee tools beyond just coffee, such as using a dripper to brew tea and dashi.
In addition, sweets focusing on red bean paste as a coffee accompaniment will also be available. Boulangerie Bonnetanne, a bread and pastry shop in Mishuku, Tokyo, will be selling a limited quantity of "An Butter," a soft bread wrapped in smooth, rich fresh butter and distinctively sweet Dainagon beans. Other items on sale include "Yomogi Ankoro" (mugwort ankoro) and "Japanese-style muffins." There will also be special live performances by artists including LOOP POOL. Also available on the day will be a workshop featuring hand-dripping techniques, taught by baristas from popular shops. "Five-cup tasting tickets" will be available to casually compare the coffees from each shop, and a limited-edition "Canary" color version of the original mug, which sold out last time, will also be available. The mug will feature the Good Coffee logo and a title illustration by Mriya, an illustrator familiar from the TOKYO COFFEE FESTIVAL.
