The Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2026 Collection, unveiled on October 6th at the Palais Jena in Paris, is a collection that reinterprets the existence of "women," a concept that Miuccia Prada has always focused on, from the perspective of "work." The theme is "the meaning, value, and essence of work." It sheds light on the effort and dedication that are often overlooked in everyday life, depicting work as an expression of love and dignity.

The aesthetics of labor entrusted to the apron
The symbol of this collection is the apron, a universal symbol of labor. This garment, which transcends the realms of home, medicine, industry, and caregiving, and embodies the activities of women across cultures and positions, has been reconstructed by Miuccia with a new perspective. Combining materials such as silk croquet, lace, embroidered canvas, and drill, the pieces are elevated to create garments that combine functionality and decorativeness, practicality and poetry. Rather than a symbol of dainty, ruffles functioned as an embodiment of inner strength, quietly challenging society's definition of what womanhood is.

Embracing the memory of industry and the dignity of handcraft
Industrial and handcrafted textures intertwine throughout the collection. Lace and embroidery are layered against rustic materials like leather and cotton poplin, creating a new poetic tension between the working body and the dressing body. With subtle homages to the labor documentaries of photographers Dorothea Lange and Helga Paris, the collection visualized the "beauty" and "power" hidden in the everyday. Bags and shoes were crafted from supple yet durable leather, redefining industrial aesthetics for the modern era.

Bringing the Workplace to Everyday Life—The Transformation of the Palais d'Iena
The hypostyle hall of the Palais d'Iena, where the exhibition took place, was transformed into a stage for abstract domestic scenes, with Formica tables rhythmically arranged. By layering a sense of everyday life into an architectural space that was originally intended as a "place of work," the show attempted to view "work" and "life" as a continuous entity. The atmosphere exudes the quiet pride and elegance of women living in society.

A diverse cast embodies "work and life"
The show featured a diverse cast of actors, artists, musicians and other individuals active in a variety of fields. Milla Jovovich, Anya Chalotra, Richard E. Grant, Rila Fukushima, and Sandra Hüller were joined by choreographer Florentina Holzinger and singer Phew, who walked the runway dressed in their own unique "work" and "expression." Their very presence embodied the collection's theme, "The dignity of work."

An ode to the modern woman who wears "work" as love
The belief that "work is an expression of compassion and love," portrayed throughout this collection, is something that runs through everything from Miu Miu this season. Through the reinvention of functional clothing, we are shown women who discipline themselves, engage with society, yet tenderly embrace others. Quietly yet powerfully questioning the meaning of work, this collection sheds new light on the image of the modern woman.
