Musician Justin Bieber was born on March 1, 1994, in Ontario, Canada.
He taught himself to play the drums, guitar, piano, and trumpet, and at the age of 12, he won second place in a local contest singing Ne-Yo's "So Sick." He continued to post videos of this performance and covers of popular songs on YouTube, and was discovered by people in the music industry, leading to him signing with Island Records at the age of 14.
His seven-track debut EP, "My World," released in 2009, quickly sold over one million copies, and his studio album, "My World 2.0," released in 2010, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. In recognition of these achievements, he was nominated in two categories at the 53rd Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.
In addition, his second studio album, "Under the Mistletoe," and his third studio album, "Believe," both debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and outside of music, his autobiographical film, "Never Say Never," was a huge hit.
In his personal life, he began dating singer and actress Selena Gomez in 2010. Photographs of the two of them together made headlines every day, but they have since broken up and gotten back together repeatedly. He has recently been in a string of troubles, and was arrested last month on suspicion of drunk driving.
