LOUIS VUITTON presented its 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection. The theme of new artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière's debut collection was "timeless." The season's most anticipated runway show took place in the Louvre, where each seat was given a letter of encouragement from Nicolas. The blinds were raised, letting in natural light and creating a refreshing atmosphere. The tops and pants featured slim silhouettes. The sleeves were narrow, typical of Nicolas. The contrasting colors and color combinations of the dresses and jackets were also characteristic of his work. The high, cinched waists evoked a 1960s vibe. A variety of classic and futuristic materials, including exotic leather, faux leather, sequins, gold embroidery, ribbing, and tweed, were used to create a timeless style. The skirts were all just above the knee. Patch pockets added an accent to the trapeze line, which had a gentle flare. Spiral cutouts were also featured. Plastic was sewn into certain areas to create the appearance of crocodile leather. Tight skirts were slashed diagonally and cut into sections made of different materials.
Unique bag designs appeared one after another. Handbags with only a single handle, pochettes resembling miniature trunks, and clutches with alternating flap sections were all eye-catching.
When Nicolas appeared after the show, she received a thunderous round of applause.
