Platinum portrait worth 50 million yen released featuring SIX, Yoshida Uni, and others

Mar 13, 2014

Platinum Guild International, an international public relations agency for platinum jewelry, has launched a platinum portrait ordering service, unveiling a work planned and produced by SIX and Hakuhodo Magnet, a creative group formerly with Hakuhodo. The work features a diverse team of artists representing a variety of genres, including creative director Tsubasa Oyagi (SIX), art director Yuni Yoshida, photographer Yume Miyahara, sound artist evala, and hair and makeup artist Katsuya Kamo. The work weighs approximately 1 kg and measures 808 mm x 582 mm (unframed). It features approximately 13,000 small platinum spheres, ranging from 2 to 5 mm in diameter, worth a market value of 50 million yen. Four people meticulously embedded each sphere into a meticulously designed sketch over the course of a week. A video of the making of the work is available on the special website.

This project, which creates one-of-a-kind portraits, expresses the desire of women to "never fade and continue to shine forever," and the fact that platinum, with its ever-present white brilliance, is the most suitable precious metal for this.

Reservations for orders are scheduled to begin at the end of April.
