The results of the Japan competition for the sleepwear design contest "#DressedToRest," jointly held by Sugino Fashion College and ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel, were announced on March 14th, World Sleep Day. The Grand Prize went to Mori Akane (20 years old, second-year student, Department of Fashion, Faculty of Fashion, Sugino Fashion College), the Excellence Prize went to Kawashima Ryo (21 years old, third-year student, Department of Fashion, Faculty of Fashion, Sugino Fashion College), and the Runner-up Prize went to Shi Yi (20 years old, second-year student, Department of Fashion, Faculty of Fashion, Sugino Fashion College). Upon receiving the Grand Prize, Mori commented, "I'm very happy. I want to report this to my professors, who have been so kind and instructive, right away." The concept of her winning design was "First-class Japan." To create simple yet functional sleepwear that wouldn't interfere with a good night's sleep, the back bodice was lengthened to eliminate pressure around the buttocks. The double-layered cuffs prevent the pants from riding up while you sleep.
The contest was organized by ANA Crowne Plaza Hotels, which offers the original sleep program "Sleep Advantage" developed for Japan, in collaboration with Sugino Fashion College to develop sleepwear that combines comfort and design. Victor Osumi of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan, one of the judges, commented, "I was amazed by the innovative ideas for sleepwear and the outstanding work of these talented young people."
The winning sleepwear will be commercialized as part of ANA Crowne Plaza Hotels' accommodation packages. The contest was also held in Singapore, India, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia, and the winners from each country were announced on March 14th from a total of 137 entries (48 from Japan).
