Aoki Befuku, a denim brand developed by Aoki Befuku Co., Ltd., will be selling "MY DENIM MASK," an autumn/winter denim mask made entirely in Japan from 10:00 a.m. on September 30, 2020.
  MY DENIM MASK マイデニマスク
MY DENIM MASK マイデニマスク
"MY DENIM MASK" features a striking indigo and white striped fabric and is made from "hickory denim," which is synonymous with workwear. Available in three colors, these masks complement any outfit and allow you to choose a design that suits your style. Because they're worn every day, we wanted you to enjoy wearing them in your own way, which is why we named them "MY DENIM MASK." The sturdy, heavy-weight STONE WASH denim fabric protects your skin from dryness in the colder months ahead. The inside of the mask, which comes into contact with your mouth, is made of knit material with antibacterial and deodorizing properties, making it a mask that excels not only in design but also in functionality. Recommended for denim lovers as well as those who want to incorporate masks into their fashion for a new lifestyle. Aoki Befuku will continue to develop denim masks and denim products to brighten your lives.

1. Sewing techniques that make your face look sharp
The mouth area of the mask is sewn with a border pattern, while the parts on both sides around the face are sewn with a striped pattern. This sewing design creates a slimming and three-dimensional impression, making your face look sharper. The complex manufacturing process of rearranging, cutting, and sewing these vertical and horizontal patterns requires a high level of sewing skill.

2. Made with high-performance knit tricot (warp knit) material with moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and antibacterial properties on the reverse side
The inside of the opening is made of high-performance tricot, which is treated with antibacterial, deodorizing, and quick-drying processing, resulting in low friction and a smooth feel against the skin. It is a material that women will also appreciate as it prevents makeup from smudging and is easy to remove dirt.

3. Stone-washed, aged hickory denim
The hickory denim material used on the surface is heavy-weight denim that has been stone-washed beforehand. During the washing process, pumice is mixed in and rubbed against the denim, creating a beautiful indigo texture that gives the denim a textured surface and a three-dimensional look.

4. Bar closures that stabilize the opening of the pleats
To stabilize the pleats at the top of the mask, we have incorporated a bar tack into the design. A bar tack is a type of tacking stitch, also known as a bar tack. This is a technique that can only be achieved at a denim factory with specialized industrial sewing machines for thick fabrics.

Characteristics of Aoki Clothing
1. Advanced sewing techniques cultivated over 60 years since the company was founded
Unlike the three-dimensional masks that have become mainstream in recent years, Aoki Beifuku's pleated masks can be adjusted to fit each individual's face. Although they require more steps than three-dimensional masks, they can be made using denim, a material that is more difficult to process than other materials, thanks to the advanced sewing techniques that the company has cultivated over the 60 years since its founding in 1961.

2. Carefully selected materials and sustainable processes from Ibara, Okayama
The denim material is woven using a special dyeing method called "reactive dyeing," which allows the dye to penetrate the yarn and preserve the color. Reactive dyeing results in virtually no color fading, even after repeated washing. The dyeing process uses high-quality water from the Oda River, which flows through Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture, the "holy land of denim," resulting in a smooth color and fine texture. The dyed water has long been recycled according to strict environmental standards and is returned to the river, ensuring sustainable mask production.

3. Designer: Toshiki Aoki
The design of Aoki Befuku's denim masks was overseen by Toshiki Aoki, the designer of FAGASSENT, a globally active brand representing Ibara. After working in the production of domestic brands, Aoki moved to the UK in 2008. He majored in fashion design at the London College of Fashion, then trained at a local label before going independent. In 2011, he founded FAGASSENT, using heavy-weight denim made in Okayama. Aoki's designs are characterized by a sense of weightiness exuded from delicate silhouettes. Aoki also deeply felt that he had come this far thanks to the support of many people while developing his collections overseas. "My roots are in Ibara, and this denim sewing factory," he says. He puts special meaning into the design of his denim masks. Making the most of the abundant materials produced in Okayama, he emphasizes texture, and because these masks are meant to be worn every day, he also pays particular attention to the seasons, creating a design that grows on you with each use.
