Mar 28, 2014

STANDBY TOKYO, a travel-themed shop, opened on March 28th on the first floor of JR Tokyo Station, in front of the Shinkansen South Transfer Gate. Comprised of a general goods and gift shop and a rest area, the shop offers a variety of goods and services targeted at tourists and business travelers. The general goods and gift shop offers limited-edition items, including original T-shirts (available in three colors, 2,900 yen each) featuring the pine stakes that have supported the Marunouchi Station building of Tokyo Station for nearly 100 years, and Crunch Biscotti (8 pieces for 500 yen, 8 x 2 pieces for 1,000 yen) from popular gift shop Tokyo Campanella. The lineup also includes items from bag manufacturer Yoshida & Co., tumblers from Kleankanteen, travel goods from TRAVENEY and TRAVELLIFE, and rain gear from Kiu. The rest area offers Standby Tokyo's original blend and original granola menu, created by Ebisu specialty coffee shop Sarutahiko Coffee. Popeye Camera, which has its main store in Jiyugaoka, regularly holds special exhibitions on the theme of "travel," and guests can freely use iPad minis that support Japanese and English, as well as the public wireless service for foreign visitors to Japan provided by JR East.
