The Coach x Jean-Michel Basquiat collection is released, along with a global campaign featuring Jennifer Lopez and the Coach family.

Coach will release the "Coach x Jean-Michel Basquiat" collection on September 18th. The global campaign, which began on September 8th, features Coach faces Jennifer Lopez, Michael B. Jordan, Jeremy Lin and Yang Zi, along with Basquiat's niece, beauty entrepreneur Jessica Kelly, and other members of the diverse Coach family.


Debuting on the runway in February 2020 as part of Coach's Fall 2020 collection, the collection introduces Basquiat's work and values to a new generation through the lens of the diverse families they could have, not just the one they were born into.



The campaign features photographer Micaiah Carter, along with Paloma Elsesser, Jon Batiste, Kyemah McEntyre, Diana Gordon, and photographers Fan Xin and Zhang Meng. Created in collaboration with global creators including Basquiat, it tells the story of a creative family united by shared beliefs and purpose, spotlighting Basquiat's vision for bold expression, his artistic activism and his desire to "be part of a family of artists," as he once stated.

Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers said: "Basquiat is one of my heroes. He embodied the creative and inclusive spirit of New York and was a force for change in his community. I am proud to celebrate his work and values and introduce them to a new generation. I am also humbled by the Basquiat family's support and trust in me and grateful for their collaboration in creating this collection and campaign."

Meanwhile, on behalf of the Basquiat family, Basquiat's sister, Janine Basquiat, said: "We absolutely love this collection from Coach. They captured the spirit and energy of Jean-Michel's work perfectly and brought it to life by assembling the perfect group of creative talent. As long-time Coach fans, this collection was a dream project for us."

As part of this campaign, Coach is engaging community members in a series of socially-first short films featuring cast members sharing stories about family, art, and the importance of Basquiat's legacy.
