Music streaming service Spotify has launched a new section within its app called "Early Noise," showcasing up-and-coming artists from around the world who are expected to make great strides in the future.

Spotify has previously run programs around the world to support notable next-generation artists. In Japan, the "Early Noise" program began in 2017, with 10 artists selected at the beginning of the year being supported throughout the year through playlists, events, and more.
To date, the "Early Noise" project has helped many now-famous artists, such as Aimyon, Official Hige Dandism, Vickeblanka, and CHAI, reach various music scenes in Japan and even overseas, helping them gain new listeners and take their careers to the next level.
Spotify is also conducting similar activities on a global scale, not just in Japan.
This March, the global "RADAR" program was launched, introducing notable emerging artists from around the world to music fans around the world. 115 artists were selected for the program, and the playlist of the same name has been played more than 2 billion times in six months.
Three Japanese artists were selected: Rina Sawayama, Vaundy, and Fujii Kaze, who were also selected for this year's "Early Noise."
The newly launched "Early Noise" corner (known overseas as the "Radar" corner) not only features playlists from "Early Noise," which highlights newcomers in Japan, and "Radar," which highlights newcomers from a global perspective, but also playlists from 22 sister programs operating in various countries and regions, making it a place where global listeners can quickly discover new talent across borders.
Rina Sawayama, who was selected as an "Early Noise" artist for 2020 in January this year and was also selected for the global program "Radar" in March, commented as follows:

"I'm truly honored to be included among so many amazing talents. Spotify has really supported my music, allowing me to broaden my audience to include people who didn't know me before and who don't necessarily like pop music. What's especially great is that my listenership has been so stable, and it's really gratifying to see people still listening to and enjoying my music even months after its release. While I'm sad that I can't perform live in front of new audiences, I look forward to performing in 2021. I'm really looking forward to it! Among the "Early Noise" artists, I'm listening to Kaze Fujii. He has a great voice! And on "RADAR," merci, mercy from Australia is super cool. The tone and production are amazing!
