Starting in late September last year, Tourism New Zealand released a message video under the theme "Every journey begins with imagination," encouraging people to imagine a trip to New Zealand and consider it their next travel destination, even while borders remain closed. In the video, Japanese rugby player Kazuki Himeno and New Zealand rugby legend Richie McCaw introduce New Zealand's recommended natural beauty, gourmet food, and activities with a spirit of hospitality. The song "Wanderlust" was written specifically for the video by the hugely popular band Frederick, who completed their tour from the end of the year through this month and will perform their first show at the National Yoyogi Stadium in June. Twitter, under the hashtag "Imagine a Trip to New Zealand," was flooded with passionate tweets and stories of New Zealand experiences, with comments such as "I want to return with renewed enthusiasm," "I want to go soon! I want to go now!", and "I want to go now!" from people looking forward to traveling. Then, on the 3rd of this month, the government relaxed border restrictions and announced more concrete plans* for reopening borders, making travel to New Zealand a reality.

On February 9th, digital distribution of Frederick's "Wanderlust" began. The song, which Frederick describes as "filled with the excitement of wandering deep within oneself, like a journey, the elation of embarking on an adventure, the desire to explore the unknown, and the excitement of encountering a new world," expresses the growing desire to imagine a journey set to a stylish rhythm. Frederick's latest album, "Frederism 3," which includes "Wanderlust," will be released on March 30th.

What kind of New Zealand trip do the members of Frederick imagine?
Mihara Kenji "I'd like to go to Lake Tekapo, which is said to have the most beautiful starry sky in the world. It would be amazing if I'm lucky enough to see the aurora...!"
Mihara Koji "I'd like to experience Fiordland National Park with my own eyes, its fantastical and clear scenery. When I was writing the lyrics for Wanderlust, I saw this place and my imagination ran wild with my travels."
Akagashi Ryuji "I'd like to try Bluff oysters at Bluff! I'd also like to have a barbecue and drink coffee in the midst of New Zealand's nature!"
Takahashi Takeshi "I'd love to go to and perform at a music festival like Rhythm & Vines. Just imagining how wonderful it would be to be able to experience New Zealand's nature and music firsthand makes me excited."

Frederick Profile
Formed in Kobe, this four-piece band consists of twin brothers Kenji Mihara (Vo./Gt.) and Koji Mihara (Ba.), along with Ryuji Akagashira (Gt.) and Takeshi Takahashi (Dr.). Their unique sense of humor and wide-ranging musical background create repetitive rhythms and lyrics that are highly addictive. Their song "Odoru Loop," released in 2014, has been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube (as of February 2022) and reached number one on TikTok's weekly song rankings for November 2020, making them a band that remains in the spotlight today. Renowned for their live song arrangements, diverse performances, and high level of musical talent, Frederick is a "one-of-a-kind" band that doesn't belong to any particular scene.
