To celebrate its first anniversary, BARCOS J LINE has launched a new bird-themed bag with the theme "BIRD MEETS JAGUAR." A promotional event will be held until the 18th in the handbag promotion space on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku main store. BARCOS J LINE is a bag brand that debuted at the Isetan Shinjuku store in 2013, combining "world-class creations" with "unique craftsmanship" to create a new Japanese luxury. Designed by young creator Ryuji Otani, the brand offers innovatively designed bags with a "jaguar" motif. The bags, crafted with a focus on curves, have exquisite forms and are characterized by three-dimensional embossing and metal fittings hand-carved by artisans in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The bags are made by four skilled artisans in their 60s and 70s, and each one takes several months to carefully craft, making them impossible to mass-produce.
Today, Barcos J Line, which is celebrating its first anniversary, has created a new series with a bird motif, with the hope that it will spread its wings even wider and take off into the world. The lineup includes a cut-and-sewn bag (189,000 yen) with a refreshing white body and an embossed bird motif, and a small cut-and-paste three-dimensional bag (189,000 yen) with metal fittings in the shape of a bird flapping its wings. "A year after the brand was launched, it has grown into a brand that is popular with many people, thanks in part to the popularity of designer Otani Ryuji. It has gained support from customers in their 40s who love Japanese things. The appeal of these bags is that when you introduce the skilled techniques of the artisans, you are convinced that they are good quality. This time, to coincide with the release of the bird series, we have focused on the needs of young people and have lined up bags in pastel colors and 2-way designs. The response has been very good, so we are looking forward to seeing what happens next," said a sales representative.
