Christian Dior has appointed Maria Grazia Chiuri as its Women's Artistic Director, effective July 8th. She will be the brand's first female artistic director and will oversee the haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories collections. Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, said, "Maria Grazia Chiuri is an internationally acclaimed and talented woman. She will bring an elegant and modern perspective to the traditions and prestige established by Monsieur Dior." Maria Grazia Chiuri also commented, "It is a great honor to join Dior. Being the first female director at Dior, a house that so strongly expresses femininity, comes with a tremendous responsibility. Dior's unbroken tradition has always been a source of fashion inspiration. Now I am excited to express my vision, and I am deeply grateful to Mr. Arnault and Mr. Toledano for entrusting me with this role." Dior CEO Sidney Toledano commented, "The sensual and poetic image of the woman she portrays is truly like Monsieur Dior. Her exceptional couturier skills and deep knowledge of craftsmanship will create a wonderful harmony with us at Dior." Maria Grazia Chiuri's first collection as Artistic Director will be presented in Paris on September 30th during this year's Paris Fashion Week.
