Thom Browne New York presented its Spring/Summer 2017 men's collection on June 26th at an event center northeast of Paris.
The show began immediately after a moment of silence for photographer Bill Cunningham, who recently passed away suddenly. The theme song from the movie "Jaws" played, and models wearing shark headpieces appeared.
Next, models in feather suits flew around, and then models in suit-like wetsuits lined up in the center of the square runway. They then removed their wetsuits to reveal woven suits, into which the models began walking one by one. In addition to elaborate pieces such as jackets embroidered with sharks and suns, jackets embossed with floral motifs, floral lace jackets, and English lace jackets, there were also humorous pieces characteristic of the brand, such as a vinyl-coated jacket, a tailcoat-style jacket, a cut fur trompe l'oeil jacket, and a jacket-like trompe l'oeil jumpsuit.
When the models had finished walking and removed their jackets again, all-in-one swimsuits were revealed. Everyone retreated, and while models dressed in feather suits transformed into parrots flew around, models carrying surfboards with the same motif as the swimsuits appeared all at once. The final show, concluding the 17SS Paris Men's Collection, was met with the usual round of applause.
