"Babouche" bags made with leftover leather from Pass the Baton x Shoes Bakery are now on sale

Jun 16, 2017

The original "BABOUCHE" (¥6,000), a collaboration between PASS THE BATON and SHOESbakery, will be available at all PASS THE BATON stores on June 16th.

PASS THE BATON's "LovedLeftovers" project transforms leftover fabric and leather from the manufacturing process of clothing, shoes, bags, and more into new products. This time, in collaboration with SHOESbakery, PASS THE BATON designed an original "BABOUCHE" using leather left over from the pump production process.

Founded in Tokyo in 1953, SHOESbakery is a shoe manufacturer that handles every step of the process in-house, from design and cutting to upper construction, sole attachment, and finishing. They aim to "upcycle" the leather left over from the shoemaking process, creating products that are different from mass-produced products and allow customers to cherish and use it with a sense of attachment.

"BABOUCHE," born from the collaboration between the two companies, is made from leftover leather and is available in a wide variety of colors and leathers. It also comes with a cotton drawstring bag with a rabbit or bird illustration printed on it for storing the babouche shoes, making it useful not only at home or in the office, but also when traveling. It comes in sizes S and L.

Available at Pass the Baton Marunouchi store, Omotesando store, Kyoto Gion store, and online shop.
