Hedi Slimane's Saint Laurent advertising campaign features a cast of '90s rock stars.
The brand's first campaign featured Christopher Owens of Girls, and its second featured Beck Hansen, which garnered much attention. This time, musicians like Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, and young artist Ariel Pink are joining the cast.
As always, Slimane himself photographed the campaign. Manson appeared in the LA shoot wearing the designer's L01 motorcycle jacket, a signature Saint Laurent piece also beloved by Keith Richards. Slimane's photoshoot for Love, which he has been shooting for the past 10 years, took place at her New York townhouse earlier this year. She chose classic Saint Laurent pinstripe suits and ruffle shirts, as well as dresses from the Pre-Fall collection and a fur coat from the Autumn/Winter 2013-14 men's collection.
Yves Saint Laurent and Saint Laurent have a deep connection with rock stars; in 1971, Bianca Jagger wore a Yves Saint Laurent wedding dress for her wedding to Mick. Slimane, for Yves Saint Laurent in the 1990s and Dior in the early 2000s, designed stage costumes for numerous musicians, including David Bowie, Mick Jagger, and The Libertines. He has used soundtracks by Daft Punk and The O-Sees for his shows, and continues to photograph the rock scene in his private life.
