On April 2nd, Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. began construction on the "(tentative name) Odakyu Ebina Station East Exit Building," a complex directly connected to the east exit of Ebina Station on the Odakyu Line. It is scheduled to open in October 2014. Based on the concept of "connecting to the station, connecting to the city," the second floor will be directly connected to the station concourse and pedestrian deck.
The site area is approximately 3,536 square meters. The main building will be 11 stories tall, with commercial facilities on floors 1-4 and rental housing on floors 5-11. The commercial facility will have a total floor area of approximately 6,473 square meters and will house retail, food, and service-related tenants. The rental housing will have a total floor area of approximately 5,311 square meters and will house 119 units. A four-story bicycle and parking building will also be constructed, providing space for 252 bicycles and 106 cars. The combined total floor area of both buildings will be approximately 15,859 square meters.
In 2002, Odakyu Electric Railway opened the large-scale complex "Vina Walk" at the east exit of Ebina Station. With approximately 120 specialty stores anchored by Marui Family Ebina and Toho Cinemas Ebina, it forms the central commercial zone of the Ebina area. The station also operates the "Odakyu Marche Ebina" shopping complex, which offers nine stores, including cafes and bakeries, along the walkway connecting the east and west sides of Ebina Station.
Odakyu Electric Railway aims to make the "(tentative name) Odakyu Ebina Station East Exit Building" a new landmark for Ebina Station and to create a new commercial area integrated with existing facilities. At the same time, a large-scale land readjustment project is underway at the west exit of the station, and Mitsui Fudosan plans to open "LaLaport Ebina (tentative name)" on the site of the center in 2015. The area around Ebina Station will undergo a major transformation over the next year and the year after.
