In 2013, she won the 43rd Takami Jun Prize for her poetry collection "Water Jug." She won the 49th Tanizaki Junichiro Prize for her short story collection "Love Dreams and Things."
In 2016, she won the Watanabe Junichi Literary Prize for "Akogare." She was selected for the Granta Best of Young Japanese Novelists 2016 for "Proof of Marie's Love." Her many other works include "All Midnight Lovers," "The Horned Owl Flies at Dusk," co-authored with Murakami Haruki, and the short story collection "Wisteria and Three Women."
She served as the editor-in-chief of the "Waseda Bungaku Supplement: Women's Edition." Her latest full-length novel, "Summer Story," won the 73rd Mainichi Publishing Culture Award.
