A meeting to discuss Thom Browne was held. "Think of Fashion" to consider men's suits

Apr 16, 2013

The seventh session of "Think of Fashion," a group that considers cultural and social phenomena related to people's clothing, will be held on the 28th at 6:00 PM at the cafe and gallery "Blockhouse" in Jingumae, Shibuya.

The theme of this session is "Thom Browne: Men's Suits from the 2000s onward." Together with Makoto Ishizeki of the Kyoto Costume Institute, we will consider the methods of Thom Browne, who practices designs that deviate from the "orthodox" style of suit design, while also thinking about men's suit design and its role in contemporary fashion. The participation fee is 2,000 yen, including one drink.

In the 2000s, when men's fashion began to gain attention, Tom Ford of Gucci and Hedi Slimane of Dior Homme proposed their own unique styles and added a new image to the suit, but Thom Browne has placed the suit at the center of his own clothing design, making his unique length balance a standard trend. He is also experimenting with designs that vary the proportions of each part of the suit.

The brand was also the subject of much discussion at the talk show held at the recent 10th anniversary party of GQ Japan as a brand that has made a big impact in men's fashion.
