Vivienne Westwood was born on April 8, 1941. In 1971, she began her career as a fashion designer by opening the shop "Let It Rock" with Malcolm McLaren on London's King's Road.
Later, together with Malcolm, she produced the Sex Pistols, a band formed by regular customers of the shop. The shop changed its name to "SEX," "Seditionaries," and "World's End," and became a mecca for punk fashion. Vivienne is also known as the "Queen of Punk."
In 2006, she was awarded the title of Dame in recognition of her achievements in the fashion industry. She was also selected as a person representing British creativity in the British government's "Great Campaign" to promote the UK during the London Olympics.
The brand has four lines: women's "Vivienne Westwood Gold Label," "Vivienne Westwood Red Label," and "Anglomania," and men's "Vivienne Westwood Man."
Her current husband, Andreas Kronthaler, serves as the brand's creative director. Westwood is her first husband's surname.
