
On April 2nd, the United Nations' World Autism Day, "Warm Blue 2015" will be held, proposing a "mixed society" for people with various challenges.
This event, which is in keeping with World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, will feature various activities related to the concept color blue. This year, the venue has been expanded to three areas: Harajuku, Omotesando, and Aoyama. This will be the first time that "Warm Blue" will host an event on a city-wide scale.
From April 2nd to 24th, Itochu Aoyama Art Square will host the art exhibition "Warm Blue MAZEKOZE Art." Artists with autism, including Chizuru Azuma and Amon Miyamoto, will each exhibit blue-themed artwork. On the opening day, a live painting event will be held, with the participating artists participating. Everyone who visits the venue will artistically paint a white truck. On the 11th and 18th, there will also be live performances by artists including sculptor Takuya Sasaki, as well as a concert by blind singer-songwriter Hirari Sato. Also, at Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku's "Omohara Forest," a public recording of the NHK variety show "Baribara" will be held. Selected performers from the "SHOW-1 Grand Prix," a competition to crown Japan's best comedian with disabilities, will appear. The venue will offer impactful performances, including a paper theater-style, screaming flip routine and a live show featuring live performances of performers sharing their experiences, including acoustic guitar and comedy sketches. Afterward, there will be a live music performance featuring performers with autism, intellectual minorities, and survivors. Visitors to the venue will also receive a blue flower crown from My Melody. Meanwhile, at the "BA-TSU Art Gallery" in Omotesando, artist Hiroko Kikuchi will host a workshop. A variety of contemporary art-themed activities will be held, including doodles, clay sculptures, and 3D photocopies. During the event, eight facilities in the area, including Omotesando Hills and Laforet Harajuku, will be lit up in blue. Original wall advertisements will also be displayed at Condomania, and the entire city will be decorated in blue. The music video for the message song "Get in touch!" will also be broadcast on the large screen at Jingumae Crossing. Additionally, staff will wear original "BEAMS x Get in touch" collaboration T-shirts. Original blue balloon items will be distributed around the venue, including Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku. Items include condoms with packaging designed by artists with autism and candles featuring characters by picture book author Kanayo Sugiyama. Other events planned include "Blue Car Drive," featuring world-famous cars decorated in blue, and "Blue Candle Dinner," featuring an original menu accompanied by blue candles. In addition to the venue, blue illuminations will also be displayed at landmarks across Japan, including Tokyo Tower.
