Spotify is currently releasing a playlist called "Listening Together," in which popular artists select songs with the theme of "music you want to listen to together," along with messages for listeners staying at home! The playlists in this series not only feature songs that each artist likes, but some also include voice messages, making for a deeper enjoyment. Here, we'd like to introduce 10 of our recommended "Listening Together" playlists.
First up, we've picked out a playlist by Gen Hoshino, whose free-spirited remote collaborations via social media's "Let's Dance at Home" have been a hot topic! The songs in this playlist range from hip-hop and cutting-edge club music by artists like Thundercat, Kanye West, and Louis Cole to classic soul music by Cheryl Lynn, the Jackson Sisters, and George Juke. Occasionally, Hoshino's own music is woven in, creating a sense of unity throughout the playlist. In particular, the flow from track 25, "Real Estate," through track 26, "Sayonara no Umi (insurumental)," and track 27, "D'Angelo," transcends time and genre.
Arashi's playlist is also a must-listen! The first half features songs selected from their own "Reborn" series. In the second half, each member introduces five songs. Each member selects each section of ONE OK ROCK's playlist: Ryota selects tracks 1-8, Tomoya selects tracks 9-19, Toru selects tracks 20-27, and Taka selects tracks 28-36. From track 37 onwards, the songs are all their own, and one of the joys of this playlist is finding out how the songs each member chose before that have influenced the sound of their band.
The playlist created by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION was selected by Masafumi Goto (tracks 2-11), Kensuke Kita (tracks 12-21), Takahiro Yamada (tracks 22-31), and Kiyoshi Ijichi (tracks 32-41).
