For her Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri's goal was to reexamine the meaning of clothing, as if each look had the opportunity to tell its own story. Transcending the boundaries between artwork and artistic process, Maria Grazia Chiuri sought to return fashion to its roots, emphasizing the relationship between purpose and function, between the body and its adorners.

She then collected and reinterpreted silhouettes from the archives, starting with the "Amazone" dress designed by Christian Dior for his Fall/Winter 1951-1952 Haute Couture collection. It was this dress that led her to reflect on the legendary Amazon, a woman known for her spiritual strength and a reference point for the notion of independent, courageous femininity.

Curating the archives suggests finding connections between elements before reinterpreting them and bringing them to life in original ways. Fresh, highly graphic lines are expressed through the contrast of black and white, while check patterns and horizontal and vertical graphic motifs highlight the extremely elongated “Miss Dior” logo.

White pieces, such as shirts, are paired with black skirts, trousers and dresses, creating a play of contrasting elements that make a statement. The vibrant red of bomber jackets adds a further contrast. Embroidery, in the form of butterfly motifs or fringe, acts as a shining metallic accent on various pieces. Jersey stands out as the focal point of everyday wear, paired with light evening dresses and sports shirts, both simple and with shiny embellishments. Especially this year, with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, the words body, fashion and sport have (re)empowered us to talk about gender equality, inclusion, respect and embracing our own limitations.

With this in mind, Maria Grazia Chiuri commissioned artist SAGG Napoli, who uses archery in her work, to perform a performance on the runway. One of the iconic phrases displayed on the set reads, "May the building of a strong mind and a strong body be the greatest work I have ever made." A modern Amazon, Sag Napoli sees fashion as a visual expression that affirms her athletic physique. She practices archery, one of the oldest sports, requiring harmony between the mind and body.

On a runway that seems frozen in time and untrammeled by trends, this collection celebrates the strength and confidence of modern femininity.
