7The strange fate of the royal family and jewelry: A book filled with the romance of Cartier

Apr 25, 2015

To commemorate its high jewelry ordering event, "Cartier Royal," Cartier published "Cartier and the Jewels of the Royal Family" (¥2,800) by Rumiko Kawashima on April 24th.

Cartier has been recognized as an official supplier to the royal families of 16 prestigious countries, including the United Kingdom, where it was granted permission in 1904, Spain, Russia, and Greece. This book focuses on seven of these royal families. It explores the fate of tiaras and other luxurious jewels along with the royal families. It traces the fate of these jewels and their connections with the royal families through photographs, including a pearl weighing 166.18 grains that was inherited by the British royal family, as well as the Hope Diamond and yellow diamonds.

In addition, "Cartier Royal," to be held at the Kyoto National Museum in June, will feature hundreds of high jewelry pieces, including the "Cartier Royal" collection featured in the book.
