G&R Japan Co., Ltd. has announced the first Japan edition of Swiss watch brand Gorilla, "LEGACY TOKYO."

Gorilla was founded by the former chief designer of one of Switzerland's three major luxury watch brands, with the concept of creating an unprecedented hyper-performance watch. This Japan edition, "LEGACY TOKYO," is a 2020 special limited edition (limited to 250 pieces worldwide) that pays homage to Tokyo, a city that continues to evolve at the forefront of automotive culture. It will be released in Japan first.

As a venue for unveiling new products amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the brand held its first online global launch charity event on July 30th. The event was delivered live online via a connection with the Swiss headquarters, and featured a live appearance by special guest Yukio Iketani, making it a successful event with many participants not only from across Japan but also from Asian countries.

A portion of the proceeds from this special limited edition "LEGACY TOKYO" in Japan will be donated to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Social Welfare and Public Health's "Protect Tokyo - COVID-19 Medical Support Donation Fund" to be used to purchase supplies for Tokyo's medical facilities working on the front lines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

At the same time as “LEGACY TOKYO”, two new models, “MODENA” and “ESPIONAGE”, have been released from the 2020 GT Collection.

[FASTBACK GT COLLECTION] LEGACY TOKYO
Tokyo, the heart of the Far East. The 1964 Tokyo Olympics marked the city's postwar reconstruction and marked a period of remarkable growth. Not only is it the economic center of Japan, but it has also evolved into a diversified international city, a hub for traditional Japanese performing arts like kabuki and noh, as well as pop culture like anime and manga, and youth fashion. In 2020, half a century has passed since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, and Tokyo is likely to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. What legacy will Tokyo leave behind for the next half century? The city boasts a unique custom culture of dynamic tuning cars and dress-up cars, as seen in the Tokyo Auto Salon. Through the film "The Fast and the Furious x Tokyo Drift," drifting, a car culture that originated in Japan, was introduced to the world and became an official FIA sport. Gorilla Watch has announced the 2020 special limited edition "LEGACY TOKYO" in homage to Tokyo, a city that continues to spearhead cutting-edge car culture. The red, ring-shaped central disc is designed to resemble the Japanese flag, and the "20" on the index is a special gold color to commemorate the 2020 model. Limited to 250 pieces worldwide, it will be released first in Japan.
