COS has collaborated with New York-based contemporary architectural artist Snarkitecture to present an installation at Milan Salone.
Snarkitecture is a unit formed by Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham. Based on the concept of "eliminating the unimportant and emphasizing what the viewer gains through experience," they have presented a variety of spaces and objects, moving between art and architecture. In 2014, they collaborated with Calvin Klein to create window displays for the brand's flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York.
This marks COS's fourth appearance at Milan Salone, and the concept of this installation is to provide viewers with three elements: "WONDER," "RELAX," and "EXPLORE." While previous caves have been created by excavating solid material, SNARKITECTURE took a different approach by cutting countless strips of transparent material and suspending them from the ceiling. Regarding the exhibition, SNARKITECTURE said, "We're excited for everyone to experience this installation. The final passage has an element of serenity and surprise, and we hope it will draw visitors back. The ever-changing space and moving light will create a different experience each time you visit." Meanwhile, Martin Andersson, Head of Men's Design at COS, commented, "For a brand like ours that draws inspiration from the entire design world, collaborating with a creator who is so willing to integrate art and architecture was both exciting and refreshing." Karin Gustafsson, Head of Women's Design at COS, added, "Even without using COS items, SNARKITECTURE has beautifully expressed the brand's vision with their unique simplicity and unexpected expression."
