Stella McCartney presented her Spring 2018 collection in New York on June 7th. Classic Savile Row tailoring is modernized with unique cuts created by joining fabrics. Slits in the side seams of jackets add a sensual twist to masculine silhouettes. Pinstripe and pincheck shirts feature gently rounded shoulders for a subtle, relaxed silhouette. Wide-leg pants are cinched at the waist with a drawstring, creating a silhouette reminiscent of a crumpled paper bag. Jacquard dresses, jackets, and shirts, featuring bold tropical elements such as birds of paradise, wild hibiscus, palm trees, and flamingos, are also signature pieces of the season. Handcrafted gold embroidery and lavish pearl embellishments add a touch of dazzling brilliance to the collection. The "All is Love" motif by Swiss artist Urs Fischer is applied like ribbons to the seams of skirts and jackets, creating a street-like impact.
This season's shoes are also very unique. Platform shoes combine woven nappa and snakeskin-look materials with glossy, sculptural wooden heels, while rainbow-colored pump-up sneakers create an edgy atmosphere. The new "Stella Star Bag" bag style is available in seven variations, including chain bags and Boston bags, each crafted from quilted material and featuring a metallic brass star motif on the clasp.
The collection also features collaboration items with Parley for the Oceans, an organization committed to protecting the marine environment. Limited edition "adidas by Stella McCartney Parley Ultra BOOST x shoes" and "Falabella Go" backpacks have been announced, made from recycled materials from beach waste.
