Aesop opens in Tokyo Midtown. A laboratory-like space created by TORAFU

Apr 9, 2015

Aesop's 10th directly-operated store in Japan opened at Tokyo Midtown on April 3rd. Founded in Melbourne in 1987, Aesop is known for its high-quality products and sophisticated store design. The store was designed in collaboration with Tokyo-based Torafu Architects. The 24-square-meter space was inspired by the physicochemical aesthetic of traditional laboratories. This is Torafu's sixth store. A stainless steel counter in the center of the store features a sink, above which a spherical glass container sits. Bright downlights also accentuate the scientific feel. The store also displays Aesop's full range of products, which are formulated with plant-derived ingredients and high-quality ingredients developed in laboratories. Highly trained consultants are available to provide accurate advice on product selection to meet individual needs. In addition to Aesop, five new stores have opened in the Galleria commercial area at Tokyo Midtown, including Isetan Salone, a new salon-like store at Isetan Shinjuku, as well as the first stores of jewelry brand TASAKI and organic brand Bamford.
