The "Rhizomatiks inspired by Perfume" exhibition will open on September 21st at the NTT InterCommunication Center (ICC) in Tokyo Opera City, Shinjuku. This is the first exhibition to focus on the cutting-edge media directing techniques used by the creative collective Rhizomatiks for the techno-pop group Perfume. Exhibits include costumes and props used in Perfume's music videos and stage performances, development tools, 3D-scanned 3D models of Perfume, and the "Perfume Global Site Project," the third installment of which is currently underway. An artist talk is scheduled for 2:00 PM on September 28th. Rhizomatiks, whose members include Daito Manabe and Motoi Ishibashi, provides technical support for Perfume's stage productions, as well as music videos for artists such as Etsuko Yakushimaru. Many of their projects cross the boundaries between entertainment and art, and their works have been exhibited at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM) and the Mori Art Museum. The open-source project Perfume's "Global Site Project," for which they provided motion capture data and music, won the Grand Prize in the Entertainment category at last year's Japan Media Arts Festival organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Silver Award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2013.
