Rhizomatiks' Daito Manabe will be participating as a programmer in the live performance of composer Yoko Kanno's project "piano me," which will be held on the 11th at the otaku event "Otakon" in Baltimore, USA.
No other information has been released about piano me other than a teaser video released in April on the official website of Kanno's label, "PIANO." The video shows a person who appears to be Kanno playing the theme song "TANK!" from the anime "Cowboy Bebop" on the piano, while a lighting display shaped like a piano vibrates in time with the sound. The video also includes messages such as "HELLO, CAN YOU PIANO ME? YOKO KANNO" and "I HOPE YOU CAN SEE IT SEE YOU IN THE SUMMER...!"
In addition to Manabe, other members of the project include engineer zAk, a member of the band Soretaiseiriron, and art designer Momoko Nakamura, who works on commercials and films.
Yoko Kanno debuted with the band "Tetsu 100%" while attending Waseda University. She has composed music for numerous commercials, anime, games, and films. Her most notable works include anime such as "Macross Plus," "Escaflowne," "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex," and "Macross Frontier," as well as Maaya Sakamoto's music and the films "Shimotsuma Monogatari" and "Honey and Clover." She recently composed the music for the film "Petal Dance."
