Miki Kubota's new exhibition, "AN IMAGE 2," is currently being held at the hpgrp Gallery. It runs until August 18th.
The exhibition features works in which she photographs tattoos on people's bodies, prints them on paper, and then creates three-dimensional versions of the tattoos. She creates the three-dimensional images by twisting and twisting the prints, leaving the parts of the tattoo that are not visible to the naked eye to be created through her imagination.
Kubota was born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1975. After graduating from the Sculpture Department at Musashino Art University Graduate School, she developed a unique approach to sculptural concepts such as mass and the relationship between material and form. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and held solo exhibitions at the hpgrp Gallery in 2009, 2011, and 2012.
