An exhibition of street art by French graffiti artist André Saraiva, known as the creator of "Mr. A" and a close friend of Maison Kitsune, will open on September 4th.
The works on display are inspired by the kind of posters that would be created if real-life artists whom André respects gathered for a one-night live concert. These works were created exclusively for Maison Kitsune and are available for purchase.
The ten works on display were first hand-painted onto original Japanese canvases, then reproduced as posters. The canvases will be sold exclusively at Maison Kitsune Tokyo, while the limited-edition posters will be available in stores and online. T-shirts and tote bags will also be available.
The limited-edition posters were printed using rice ink (vegetable oil ink) from Toyo Ink Co., Ltd., the first in Japan to achieve zero CO2 emissions through the use of carbon offsetting. Anyone who purchases products at Maison Kitsune or CAFE KITSUNE during the exhibition will receive a free "art book" by André printed with the company's process ink "Kaleido(R)," which enables wide color gamut printing on existing four-color presses (limited quantities available, while supplies last).
André Saleva was born in Uppsala, Sweden, to Portuguese parents, and grew up in Paris. He began creating graffiti in 1985, and appeared in Banksy's street art film "Exit through the Giftshop" alongside Invader and Zevs, key members of Paris' early graffiti scene. He is also the founder of the club lounge "Le Baron de Paris" in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo.
