On May 28, designer Vivienne Westwood invited over 20 children from the child support organizations The Kid's Company and Rays of Sunshine to a reading of "Alice in Wonderland." The event took place at Vivienne Westwood's flagship store on London's Conduit Street. Figurines of the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts were displayed throughout the venue, recreating the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" from the book. After waiting for all the children to be seated, Vivienne Westwood began an enthusiastic explanation of Lewis Carroll's story. She then recited her favorite chapter, "The Mad Tea Party." In addition to the reading, an in-store tea party was also held to celebrate the release of a special edition of "Alice in Wonderland," created to celebrate the book's 150th anniversary. Guests were treated to a menu including mini lemon cakes, mini Victoria sponge cakes, and lemon and rose Alice biscuits. In addition, children were treated to homemade lemonade, while adults enjoyed Motito (a non-alcoholic mojito made with green tea) and Bakewell Tart cocktails served in teacups and jam jars. The special edition of "Alice in Wonderland" was designed by Vivienne Westwood. The cover design features a print that the brand has used since the 1980s and is inspired by the diamond pattern of Harlequin.
