Experience the first Slide the City event in Japan. The next event will be held at Seibu Dome in collaboration with Foam Party! [Writer's Blog]

We went to "Slide the City," a street event that has just arrived in Japan! "Slide the City" is a street event originating in the US, where people enjoy a 300-meter-long water slide in the city. The first event was held on June 6th and 7th at the Yume-no-Ohashi Bridge in Symbol Promenade Park in Odaiba, Tokyo.

The event's revolutionary concept of setting up outdoor water slides on urban roads and allowing people to enjoy large-scale water play in an open-air atmosphere has garnered attention, and the "ultimate street party" was a huge success at its inaugural event in Salt Lake City. As soon as the event was announced in Japan, it became a hot topic on Facebook and Twitter, and all 12,000 tickets reportedly sold out within a week of going on sale.

The weather was gloomy and cloudy throughout June, hinting at the rainy season, but the rain forecast was overturned on the first day, and by the time the event started, the sun was out and the temperature gradually rose! You'll regret forgetting your sunglasses and sunscreen, so be sure to come prepared.

The contrast between the buildings, the slides, and the swimsuits creates an indescribably surreal atmosphere. Participants dressed in vivid swimsuits and flashy cosplay appeared one after another at the starting point, located in the center of Yume-no-Ohashi Bridge, making you forget that you were in Odaiba, a place lined with hotels and commercial facilities. Everyone's sense of excitement was incredible!

Once they started sliding, there wasn't a sense of speed, but the sight of them gliding along the gentle current of the water was very graceful and refreshing. Perhaps due to the fact that the event is being held in the city, the safe atmosphere allowed children to play safely, which mothers will also appreciate. A stage event was held at the food and drink booth, which was open to the public without tickets, and people were seen enjoying an early summer to the loud music.

On this day, it was announced that the next event would be held at Seibu Dome. This festival-style event, a collaboration with the "Foam Party," will take place over two days, August 15th and 16th. Participants will slide down slides set up outside the dome from inside. Inside, there will be food and drink booths and a photo spot where you can enjoy being covered in foam. This also looks fun.

Other events are planned for approximately 10 locations nationwide during the summer season from July to October. Details will be announced on the official website, Facebook, and Twitter as soon as they're finalized. Even if you missed out on buying tickets this time, there's still a chance to participate. This is an event we highly recommend for those who can't make it to the beach or pool this year, or for those who want to enjoy splashing around in the water to their heart's content in the city. Why not give it a try? Just bring your ticket and a change of clothes!
